Welcome to Books on the Lane! We are a cosy, friendly, indie, new books bookshop (with a small selection of second-hand books) based in a former joiner’s workshop, in the pretty semi-rural village of Walton, Wakefield. Log fires, tea, coffee and cake, and through the spring and summer, herb plants and bee loving perennials. We are featured in The Guardian online. Books on the Lane is one of:

Shop Opening Times
If you would like to visit our shop, we are open Tuesdays to Saturdays 10am to 4pm. Please note, to accommodate staff holidays and family commitments, our shop will be closed from Tuesday 31 August and re-open Tuesday 28 September. Book purchases will remain available from our web site.
You can purchase from us online here via bookshop.org and we ourselves can order any book for you – just send an email to , and we can usually manage next day delivery on orders made before 2pm.
