Books on the Lane is a traditional bookshop in the best sense of the word,   where new writers rub shoulders with  classical favourites and the slightly off-beat.

Our lovely bricks and mortar shop, based in a former joiner’s workshop, in the village of Walton, Wakefield, is open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays 10am to 4pm

Please note to accommodate stock taking and family commitments, our shop is closed Saturday 27 August, Thursday 15 September to Saturday 17 September, Thursday 22 September to Saturday 24 September . 


We are specialist retailers of nature writing and also have a wide ranging stock of fiction titles plus gardening, a dedicated children’s nature section, poetry, and Yorkshire/Wakefield based interest titles.

Books on the Lane is a trading arm of The Yorkshire Live Music Project CIC, a community arts organisation established in Wakefield in 2009, and self-supported since 2013.
