Welcome to Books on the Lane! We are a cosy, friendly, indie, new books bookshop (with a small selection of second-hand books)  based in a former joiner’s workshop, in the pretty semi-rural village of Walton, Wakefield.

Log fires, tea, coffee and cake, and through the spring and summer, herb plants and bee loving perennials. We are featured in The Guardian online. Books on the Lane is one of:

12 of the UK’s best independent bookshops, chosen by readers

We specialise in nature writing with a dedicated children’s nature section, plus fiction, non fiction and classics, food and drink, local writers and Yorkshire/Wakefield based interest titles.
